Most City of Las Cruces offices will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2024, in observance of Veterans Day. Emergency services, including police and fire departments, will continue their operations without interruption.
The list of closed facilities includes A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven, City Hall, Castaneda Service Center (Parks & Recreation Administration Offices), East Mesa Recreation Center, Youth Development & Diversion Learning Center, Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, the Las Cruces Museum System—comprising Branigan Cultural Center, Museum of Art, Museum of Nature and Science, and Railroad Museum—and the Las Cruces Public Libraries such as Thomas Branigan Memorial Library and the branch library at Sage Café. Other closures are Meerscheidt Recreation Center, Rio Grande Theatre, all Senior Programs facilities and services, South Central Solid Waste Authority administrative offices, and Visit Las Cruces.
Certain services will remain operational. Solid waste collection for residential and commercial customers scheduled for that day will proceed as usual. The Foothills Landfill located at 555 S. Sonoma Ranch Boulevard will operate during regular hours. RoadRUNNER Transit and Dial-A-Ride services will maintain their standard schedule from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., with all city transit facilities open within those hours. Additionally, the South Central Solid Waste Transfer Station at 2865 W. Amador Ave., Corralitos Landfill, and county collection sites will function according to their normal service hours.
The Las Cruces Natatorium and Regional Aquatic Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to noon; however, only the upstairs fitness area of the Regional Aquatic Center will be accessible as the pool is closed for resurfacing.
