The Keep Las Cruces Beautiful Program, part of the Parks and Recreation Department, is organizing a Neighborhood Dumpster Day on Saturday, November 16, 2024. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon.

The program will provide open-top trash containers for community members to dispose of yard waste, household trash, and other permitted items free of charge. Staff from the program will be present to offer assistance and guidance regarding acceptable disposal items.

The locations for household trash containers are as follows: East Mesa Recreation Center at 5589 Porter Drive, Young Park at 850 S. Walnut Street, and near the intersection of Motel Boulevard/Westway Avenue at 674 N. Motel Boulevard.

Certain items are prohibited from being disposed of in solid waste containers. These include medical waste (in accordance with section 20.9.8.8 NMAC of New Mexico Environmental Protection regulations), hot ashes or coals, tires or any vehicle parts (including car batteries), fluorescent light bulbs, large yard waste items such as stumps or trunks, concrete, bricks or rocks, toxic or hazardous materials, toilets or sinks, refrigerators (or anything containing refrigerant), and animal carcasses.

The open-top container locations will be monitored by staff members who will ensure that residents unload their items properly.

For further information about the event or program details, contact the Keep Las Cruces Beautiful Program at 575/528-4506 or email [email protected].
