Las Cruces firefighters successfully extinguished a fire at the 3900 block of Crystal Place on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on November 26, 2024, when crews responded to a report of a residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered flames on the back porch that had spread into the attic. They managed to control the blaze and search the home within 20 minutes, rescuing two cats in the process. At least two residents and their pets were displaced as a result of the fire.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury during the operation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and damage estimates have not yet been provided.

The City of Las Cruces continues to offer various community programs and events, such as workforce development initiatives and seasonal ceremonies. Emergency services remain operational despite closures for public holidays like Veterans Day.
