The Parks and Recreation Department's Keep Las Cruces Beautiful Program (KLCB) is set to host a Neighborhood Dumpster Day on Saturday, December 7, 2024. This event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon and aims to provide the community with an opportunity to dispose of yard waste, household trash, and other allowable items at no cost.

Open-top trash containers will be available at several locations: Tony Gomez Park on S. Espina Street, Henry R. Benavidez Community Center on McClure Road, and Las Cruces Skatepark on N. Walnut Street. KLCB staff will be present to assist residents and offer guidance regarding which items can be discarded.

Certain items are prohibited from being disposed of in these solid waste containers. These include medical waste as per section 20.9.8.8 NMAC of the New Mexico Environmental Protection regulations, hot ashes or coals, tires or vehicle parts including car batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, large yard waste like stumps or trunks, concrete bricks or rocks, toxic materials, toilets or sinks, refrigerators containing refrigerant, and animal carcasses.

The container sites will be monitored throughout the event duration. Residents are responsible for unloading their own items into the provided containers.

For more information about this initiative or if there are any questions about acceptable items for disposal during Neighborhood Dumpster Day, individuals can contact the Keep Las Cruces Beautiful Program at 575/528-4506 or email [email protected].
