The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department will open registration for a free Winter Break Camp starting Friday, December 13. The camp, designed for children in grades six through 12, will run from December 23, 2024, to January 6, 2025.
This all-day program includes academic support, nutritional components in collaboration with Families and Youth Incorporated, recreational activities, creative sessions, guest speakers, and enrichment opportunities suitable for different age groups. It will take place at the Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center located at 304 W. Bell Ave., operating Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No camp sessions are scheduled on December 25, December 26, and January 1.
Parents or guardians are responsible for picking up their children after the camp each day. Registration is available online or in person until capacity is reached at the following locations:
- Parks and Recreation Administration Office: 1501 E. Hadley Ave., Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center: Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- A. Fielder Memorial Safe Haven: Monday to Friday from noon to 5 p.m.
