Las Cruces announces closures for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Most City of Las Cruces offices will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Emergency services such as police and fire departments will continue to operate normally.

The list of closed facilities includes A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven, City Hall, East Mesa Recreation Center, Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, Youth Development & Diversion Learning Center, Castaneda Parks & Recreation Administration Offices, KLCB, the Las Cruces Museum System (including Branigan Cultural Center and the Museum of Art), Las Cruces Public Libraries (including Thomas Branigan Memorial Library), Rio Grande Theatre, all Senior Programs facilities and services, South Central Solid Waste Authority administrative offices, and Visit Las Cruces.

Some facilities will remain open with specific hours. The Las Cruces Natatorium and the Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center at 1401 E. Hadley Ave. will both be open from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Meerscheidt Recreation Center at 1600 E. Hadley Ave. will operate from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Solid waste collection for residential and commercial customers scheduled for service on that day will proceed as planned. The Foothills Landfill at 555 S. Sonoma Ranch Boulevard will maintain normal business hours.

RoadRUNNER Transit and Dial-A-Ride services will run according to their regular schedules from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., while curbside recycling service is also available for those scheduled on January 20.

The South Central Solid Waste Transfer Station at 2865 W. Amador Ave., Corralitos Landfill, and Doña Ana County collection locations are expected to operate without changes.
